#Win Yourself A Necklace Made From Recycled Skateboards

Yes, that’s right I did just say that you could win yourselves a necklace made from recycled skateboards!

20130322-235436.jpg

The person behind this funky idea is Nat and she own’s this unique brand called Thrashion. Nat takes a skateboard deck that has been ridden, treasured then thrashed and turns it into a totally funky unique one of a kind piece of jewellery.

Nat has been making Jewellery and Homewares from thrashed skateboards since 2007 and from what I can gather she’s a real one of a kind, As it seems that there is no other brand like her’s across the whole of Europe!

Nat’s designs feature the original graphics on the board, no paint is added whatsoever, just a clear coat of varnish to preserve the piece.

Thrashion obtains their skateboard decks from various sources, such as pro skaters, friends, skateparks, shops and various skate companies. Boards are donated in their original state and Thrashion do all they can to keep waste to a minimum while constantly coming up with new ideas and designs along the way.

Thrashion have received Donations from Pro skaters such as the likes of ‘Matt Pritchard’ in the past. He loves the brand so much that the man himself was even spotted wearing on of the brands dog tags in a interview posted on youtube…

I love how every piece is a one of a kind! There’s no chance you’re gonna bump into a friend and spot your necklace around their neck (that is unless they borrowed it and have failed to return it).

For me, this is not only a great environmentally friendly idea, that produces cool quirky fashion pieces, but also an art form in itself. Its my opinion that Nat is a very talented artist.

20130322-235628.jpg

20130322-235644.jpg

I remember back in the 80’s and early 90’s when my little brother used to ride up and down our street on his skateboard. He actually had a few over the years that I can remember! These always displayed some really funky colourful design that never failed to make him look totally cool and impress all his friends. To think that those skate boards could now potentially be made into his big sisters pendent does make me smile. The fact I was never allowed to go near it let alone touch it, because I quote “I don’t understand Skateboards” admittedly makes me chuckle! Why? Because I may not “Understand Skateboards” but I do understand Jewellery!

I’ve actually never seen anything quite like Thrashion before. Its a great idea that takes upcycling to whole another level. I have to hold my hand up and say “Yes, I do rather like it!”

Thrashion has a site full off unique and interesting statement pieces of jewellery! I’m loving the little heart pendents with the skull graphics. These have to be my favourite! With no two pieces the same, and new skateboards being donated all the time, its a must to check back on their website from time to time for new and exciting pieces. Plus, if they don’t have what your looking for the option of a custom made piece is always an option.

20130322-235841.jpg

Orders come delivered packaged in cute little cupboard boxes, padded out with paper shreds. All packaging is again 100% recycled to keep the green element within the brand.

20130322-232013.jpg

The necklace I have to give away here on the blog today has a real funky pendent that is mostly made up of the colours greens, yellows and reds. This doughnut style pendent Has a beautiful shine and is totally smooth finish. Despite its size, it rather lightweight, making it really easy to wear. The pendent measures approximately 6 cms in diameter with a 3 cms opening,
and is supplied on a long length of military issue ball chain which can be cut to size if required.

20130323-000006.jpg

The prize is certain to make a huge fashion statement amongst friends, family and even work colleagues

My Love For Shopping Won Me A £500 Groupon Voucher

This Valentines day I discovered a great competition on the net while googling for Valentines competitions.

The competition was for bloggers and was being run by Groupon in partnership with Bloglovin. The brief… To write a post showcasing what you’d love to receive or give another for Valentines day.

The prizes being offered were almighty generous… 1st prize £500 Groupon Credit, 2nd prize… £250 Groupon Credit, 3rd prize… £100 Groupon Credit.

Given I was actually having a pretty rubbish valentines day with the love of my life snoring on the sofa by 7pm, meant that I had no problems kicking back and creating an elaborate list covering things I knew I was never gonna get! Well, not this year, not next year… Not ever! It wasn’t a bunch of flowers I wanted after all, but a whole day of pampering like a princess! Shopping for shoes and raving in Greece or some other place hot were just a handful on my list.

Well, I opted for a video and text entry and was delighted in discovering that I had bagged the first prize of £500 Groupon credit. Actually… the word “Delighted” Seems a bit of an understatement! This lady was made up with excitement and couldn’t wait to start shopping.

As I’ve got the Groupon iPhone App downloaded, its made it pretty easy to check out the daily deals! I really don’t know how I haven’t spent the lot already given they have had some awesome offers on during February. Well, I’ve spent just over £150 and have a new shiny cupcake maker, two tickets for the Hobbycraft show at excel this April, lash extensions, Banksy tees, a love film subscription, 2 tickets for hairstyling for myself and a friend at a top salon, and a potable dvd player and family film package on the way. Not bad for £150 wouldn’t you agree?

I’m really looking forward to the craft show at Excel. I’ll be heading there on the 6th April (my birthday) the day after I return from a Butlins holiday with the kids.

We received the Cupcake maker yesterday and my daughter is delighted at how “Pink” this is. I’ll be sure to showcase some finished cupcakes in the coming weeks.

So watch this space!

Oh… And if you haven’t yet experienced Groupon I’d suggest you hop to it!

#Win A Pair Of Blingbacks (Valentines Competition)

Yesterday I finally created a Facebook page for the blog so this competition is a way to celebrate both my new page and that of Valentines day

So… Who fancies winning a beautiful pair of sparkling Blingbacks?

20130214-092517.jpg

I won a pair of these pretty shoe accessories just before Christmas and then was surprised to receive a similar design as a Christmas present. Not wanting to be greedy… that and not wanting to let these pretty accessories go to waste, I’ve decided to offer my readers the chance to win a pair… After all it is Valentines day.

Blingbacks are pretty sparkly Jews that clip onto the backs of any shoe. You can transform a pair of standard heels into a sparkling pair of party heels just by accessorising them with a pair of blingy Blingbacks.

I do love these! Customise your shoes to bling up your outfit, then simply remove for a more subtle look if needed! (You know, the morning after and you haven’t made it home and now have to go straight to work scenario.) Seriously owning Blingbacks is like having earrings for your shoes.

So… I’m giving readers the opportunity to win the stunning set below.

20130214-092602.jpg

Fancy taking these home? Well, its really easy to enter! Do the compulsory actions and then earn extra entries too.

Compulsory… Describe to me in a comment below, what would be your perfect shoe (what colour, how high, designer or high street)?

Gain extra entries (comment and gain one extra entry for each action taken)

As this post is also an opportunity to celebrate my new Facebook page I’d love you to join me by liking the page. I have big plans for the new page and it will definitely be worth it.

New Look Denim Competition – #denimcomp

Jeans… I love um! With so many hot new pairs hitting the market this AW12, I really can’t wait to get my hands on a few pairs.

If you need an excuse to go out and get yourself a new pair of skinny’s then what better time then now. Today is Jeans for Genes day. Wear your Jeans with pride, join in one of the many fundraising events taking taking place up and down your country.

It’s guilt free jean shopping for me today.

While checking out the latest AW12 jeans online, I came across this wonderful gem of a site called The Sparkle Fashion Blog. They are running an awesome bloggers only competition in conjunction with New Look as a celebration of their newly launched collection of jeans. The prize… One winner will receive £200 + pair of jeans! And an additional 9 runners will also win a pair of New Looks newest sexiest jeans!

The competition closes at mid-day so i’m rushing like made here but still trying to impress you with my fashion “know how” so please bear with me.

Basically all I had to do was express my inner fashion sense by going wild and creating an outfit centred around one of their newest denim arrivals… The jeans.

It actually wasn’t hard to find a pair I loved as I quite simply loved them all. Decisions… Decisions what is a girl meant to do?

Ok here it is… My chosen jeans and the over all look I’ve chosen.

20121005-070305.jpg

The Jeans.

20121005-104705.jpg

Seriously… You can’t go wrong with a pair of Skinny Jeans. This black pair is super chic with a rock chick edge. The studded side detail really sets them apart from the rest. The cut looks great and I could see myself dressing them up and down for both night and day.

I was also drawn in by the very reasonable price tag of just £24.99! Super stylish and sexy with a super price tag to match… You just can’t fail to get it right. These jeans will be a winner every time you put them on and I’m now looking for my credit card. 🙂

Now, although the Jeans are the centre piece for my design inspiration I can’t go out and about sporting these and these alone.

The Jumper & Jacket

20121005-105429.jpg

I love red and with the evenings turning from warm to very nippy, what better then a cosy knit to warm your cockles!

This ‘Red Label Red & White Stripe Mesh Knit’ looks warm cosy and above all very comfortable. This would give my dark jeans the injection of colour it desires. At £17.99 I’d call that a bargain buy.

Now… the biker jacket, what more can I say than WOW. This is black in colour with front zip fastening and at £59.99 for real leather it would seem that New Look have brought us stylish leather of a budget.

Boots and Bag

20121005-110236.jpg

These are Silver Chelsea Boots and I want them. For just under £60 they are very reasonably priced. I love that they are Metallic, It gives them that certain edginess!

As for the bag, I’ve just got to have it! It’s got me written all over it! The blond hair the makeup and even the wine… yep this tote is definitely for this Blondie. The tote is by Scruffy little cat and sold at the New Look UK online store.

Accessories:

20121005-110950.jpg

OK, OK… These Probably are a bit out of my price range. But it doesn’t stop me lusting after them. The red and grey matches so well with the rest of the outfit… So I’m just going to dream a little! Here’s the link to the Beret (note all pieces sold separately).

So there you have it. My perfect New Look AW12 jeans! What do you think?

#Win A Beautiful Disney Book Collection

As a huge thank you to those who have supported me by following this blog I’ve organised a little giveaway to show my appreciation.

I know many of you have followed me over here from my more established blog “A boy with Asperger’s” which i have now been writing for almost 4 years. Just to know how supportive readers are when I’m starting out a new project is just so very humbling and I thank you all for the time you take to visit and read my blogs.

Well, this is not a sponsored giveaway I actually wanted to organise a prize myself, it’s not much but Harley has a set and loves them… I’m guessing they will bring a smile to another little boy or girls face just as they have his!

The prize…. 4 gorgeous hardback Disney story books.

Included in this beautifully illustrated collection is… The classic which is “Bambi” the loveable “Winnie the Pooh” the fabulous “Up” and lastly one of my favourites “The Lion King”

All four books are beautifully illustrated, each picture will capture your child’s imagination in an instant and you the reader will really enjoy reading these classic tales to your child.

20120722-120828.jpg

These really are beautiful and they would defiantly look grand on any child’s book case! What’s more, this is just the start to a great collection, you can add to these over the years maybe adding additional titles on birthdays or maybe a stocking filler for Christmas… I know I will be building upon this collection as Harley grows. I want him to enjoy the magic of Disney, just as I did as a child.
